“Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feeble minded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.  See that none render evil for evil unto any man, but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

Rejoice evermore.

Pray without ceasing.

In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Quench not the Spirit

Despise not prophesyings.

Prove all things, hold fast that which is good.

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly, and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”   (I Thessalonians 5:14-23)

Keeping a right attitude in the day we are living should be our daily challenge and prayer.  Thank God for the church, because whenever we gather together the Lord is able to bring all of our minds under His subjection, if we yield our minds to the Mind of Christ.  The devil’s business is distraction and to cause even church goers to have their mind on everything else but the service.  That is why prayer before service is vital for the health of any apostolic church.   No wonder Paul exhorted believers in the Book of Hebrews to not forsake their assembling together, and to exhort one another in this matter “and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)

We should be eagerly looking for the return of Christ.  The Apostle  Paul was anticipating the day when God would assemble His saints together and catch them away unto Himself forever.  However, in II Thessalonians he exhorted that this day of the gathering would not come until first there would be a falling away from truth and the man of sin revealed.  Keeping our hearts with this expectation of our Lord’s return is part of having a right attitude.  This is our “blessed hope” as we see the spirit of anti-christ on the rise.  We are still in a country where we are not thrown in jail for speaking the truth, but those liberties are eroding with lightening speed.  In Europe and England to speak against Islam would be enough to warrant arrest.  We have taken our liberties and personal freedom for granted in the USA and have remained silent in a world that is decaying from all semblance of moral order.  The church of the living God is the only light in this world.  The darkness can never put out the truth that the mighty God came to earth in the flesh as the Son of God, Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Savior.  But the story did not end there – it was only the beginning of multitudes down through the ages who have been born again of water and Spirit.  It is only through the blood and name of Jesus that we can be saved.  There is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved.

Every man or woman who has this hope within them makes himself pure.  This is our responsibility so that we can live a holy life acceptable in His sight.   That is why we must pray daily “Lord, create in me a clean heart and a right spirit (attitude).”

Having a thankful heart assures us that we are in the will of God.  Now a person with a positive mind set can achieve a state of thankfulness but in the wrong things.  For example, a husband can shower his wife with money and gifts to show his love for her.  If the wife lavished thanks for all the gifts but did not respect and appreciate her husband for his giving nature and character, I’m sure it would eventually get very disappointing for him.   It is even possible to be greedy in expecting God to continually lavish us with blessings because He loves us so much.  This is a misrepresentation of God.  He did not come to earth to bless us and give us the blessings of Abraham but to save us from the kingdom of darkness.  The spirit of entitlement that prevails in our country can also infect the church if not careful.

Daily the Lord loads us with benefits.  We are so grateful to Him for His continued goodness and love towards us, but He blesses us to reveal His nature.  Our reasonable service is to obey His Word and reverence Him above all others.  The Lord Jesus draws us to Himself with cords of love.  His nature is to give.  Always, our reverence and affection should be upon His person.  He is the Great I Am.  He is pouring His Spirit out on all flesh, but only a remnant will keep themselves separated from the world.  Truth has never been popular.  The path of compromise is the path of least resistance.

Jesus told His disciples before He entered the Garden of Gethsemane that the “spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”. “Pray ye therefore that ye enter not into temptation.”

Beloved, we need a greater revelation of the spirit of the fear of the Lord that would keep us in a spirit of prayer and a spirit of praise that we might stand in the evil day, and having done all STAND.
