Greetings, Beloved, in Jesus holy name! I pray all of you reading this newsletter are prospering and in good health. Those of you in prison know that to prosper is not the same as the western world may think, because the Lord has revealed “hidden riches” to those who truly hunger and thirst for His Presence. For me one of the greatest blessings in this life is when I read scriptures that I have read many times and the Lord may reveal something new that I had never seen before.
I believe all would agree that we are living in a time of deception like no other. It is almost difficult to find anything that is true any more since the world is given over to lies. When we are born again of water and Spirit (John 3; Acts 2:38) we are literally translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Light. This world loses its false glitter, and our eyes and hearts are set on things above and not on the things of the earth. Knowing our Lord is coming soon to bring us to Himself for ever and ever is a hope that this unregenerate world knows nothing of.
Some of you have discovered the great truth that prison was the best thing that ever happened to you, because in that breaking and crushing of the soul the Lord had mercy and reached down to lift you up.
In my recent studies I felt led to stop looking for answers to the growing problems around us and instead go to the “root” of the problem which could be found in the Garden of Eden.
When Satan came to Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3) we really don’t know what he looked like but we know he was a “cherub”. (Amazing that cherubs overshadowed the “Mercy Seat” so their image must have been revealed to Moses). Satan may have been in a radiant upright reptilian form that enchanted Eve. Whatever form he had taken remember that he could fly and that was why having wings (arms) and appendages cut off was such a brutal form of punishment, for after the curse God pronounced that the serpent from that time forward would crawl around with nothing but a snake body. I’m sure his fall from being the “anointed cherub” in the Garden to the slithering reptile was a shock even to the angels in heaven.
“Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God……Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth (guardian angel for man?) and I have set thee so….Thou was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.” (Ezekiel 28:13-15) but it is possible we can find it in the first two verses of the Bible. “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) “And the earth was without form and void: and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” (v.2) Is it possible that something had occurred in heaven that caused the earth to be void and dark? Did the rebellion occur there when Lucifer decided to exalt himself above God by rejecting His rule and somehow enticed 1/3rd of the angels to follow him? Do not be deceived. If Satan could tempt angels away from serving our holy and merciful Father, then we must indeed be very careful. This is the main reason that for the last 28 years Jesus Wept Ministries has been dedicated to bringing truth and exposing darkness through “sound doctrine” and teaching.
In Genesis 1:4 God declared the Light to be good and divided the light from the darkness. So it is to this day.
Genesis 2:9, “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” This may be another clue that something had happened in heaven prior to this that brought evil into the universe and God didn’t want his newest masterpiece – man – to be exposed to this knowledge. Is it possible that when God breathed into Adam and he became a living soul unlike any other creation God had made, that Lucifer was close by watching and could feel the special warmth emanating from the Father towards Man. I believe Satan became insanely jealous and at this point began to devise a plan to seduce God’s “crowning jewel”. Prior to this time Lucifer thought he was the “most beautiful” one in God’s entire creation.
When the Lord walked with Adam in the cool of the day in the Garden he talked to him of many things and shared His thoughts. Adam did not have a Bible as we know it today – only the Word of God spoken directly from the mouth of the Lord as they communed together. The most explicit command given to Adam was not to “eat of the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil; thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:17)
Adam passed the Word of the Lord on to his wife, Eve, so she heard it second-hand which is perhaps why she was tempted to add to the Word spoken. Satan was extremely jealous of this beautiful couple that the Lord had formed from the dust of the earth. Dust is basically a useless slough off from the earth. The earth can bring forth every seed bearing plant and serves a purpose, but the dryness of dust that rests on the surface of earth is usually thought of as very fragile and easily blown away by any wind (of doctrine). Is it not interesting that God chose to form man from this particular substance? It is a constant reminder of what we were made from and yet God brought something beautiful out of nothing.
“Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:” (Genesis 3:1-4)
The serpent approached Eve through her senses. First he appealed to her intellect which some have said represents the “pride of life”. He planted a seed of doubt in Eve’s mind when he said “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” Satan knew very well that God had specifically told her not to eat of the tree of “good and evil” but he wanted Eve to start doing the talking about what she “thought” God had said. He had already set a trap for her because she couldn’t wait to let him know that she really knew the “Word” and even corrected the subtle serpent by saying basically “Oh no, Serpent, God didn’t say we couldn’t eat of all the trees, only the one that has a big sign on it “GOOD AND EVIL”. (Figuratively speaking) Now don’t you think Satan was well aware of this but just wanted to get Eve to start speaking her way into the trap he had set? Eve even went so far as to add to the Word of the Lord by saying “Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.” (Gen 3:3) The Lord hadn’t said one single word about touching the tree. Sounds to me like Eve had already been tempted before the serpent even appeared on the scene. She had seen the beautiful tree of “good and evil” and wondered back then if it would be ok just to “touch” the tree but she wouldn’t eat it. The Bible says to “flee temptation” but Eve was already flirting with temptation before Satan ever appeared. Satan was well aware of this as he watched her from the shadows.
After he had successfully pulled her into the snare he drew closer to her, perhaps whispering in her ear. “Ye shall not surely die.” (Gen 3:4) Eve didn’t even really know what death was at this point. Her understanding was probably quite shallow. She probably knew that death was not a good thing just by the way Adam had repeated what God had said to her and the tone and inflection of his voice. That death was something to be “shunned” was something she had already figured out and when the Tempter suggested that she would not experience this “negative” experience she immediately folded and started believing the Devil rather than the Lord. The spring door on the trap was about to be released and Eve didn’t even know she was already caught in the web of deception.
Then came the birth of sin as she fulfilled the lust of her heart.
“For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” (Genesis 3:5-6)
So now Satan suggested to Eve that she really wasn’t all that smart and if she would eat of this forbidden tree she would see much better. Do you know all cults and false doctrines lure people in under the same guise? False prophets come to you in the guise that they know much more than you do and are far more spiritually advanced. They always tempt with the idea that they have some mysterious knowledge that they can impart to you to make you wiser. You see Eve knew that there was a huge difference between her and God. He was her Creator and she was in subjection to Him through Adam. Rebellion to be “like God” instead of “under Him” was tempting. The allure through her senses was “lust of the eye” for she saw that the tree was good for food and “lust of the flesh” pleasant to the eyes and would make her wise “pride of life”. Those three temptations have held mankind in bondage ever since and without the shed blood of Jesus Christ at Calvary and His Resurrection and pouring out the Holy Ghost the spring door of this carefully conceived plan to cause man to sin would never have been opened.
Beloved, be encouraged for we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. It takes the infilling of the Holy Ghost to overcome all the power of the enemy and the washing away of our sins in the waters of baptism in Jesus name enables us to live a holy and righteous life before God – Sister Vicki
