A sister in our church gave birth to baby Allison two weeks ago. The reason we were all so excited about this long anticipated event was because Sis. Brandy has lost two sons. One was only 10 months old and the other was in a car accident. We all rejoiced with our sister when she found out she was pregnant with a baby girl.
Allison was a full term baby weighing in at 9 pounds but something happened in the last 3 minutes of her birth and they had to forcibly remove her. The cord was wrapped around her neck and she was not breathing. Immediately they put her on a ventilator and all day she was unable to breathe on her own. They even had to shake her little body to get the air into her lungs. Her color was gray.
Bro. & Sis. Gunstanson and I went to the hospital and also everyone that knows Brandy in the metroplex was put on high prayer alert. Only the Lord can give the gift of faith for a situation that we knew only a miracle from the Lord could help this baby to live. When the doctor came into the hospital room he was very grave and it was difficult for him to get the words out. Sis. Brandy felt he had come to say her baby had died. The doctor gave no hope for baby Allison and said “She is not responding. We have done all that we can do.”
But we know a God who is greater than all human effort and when Sis. Brandy cried out to Him in that hospital room we all felt that this mother had touched the heart of God. All night long the church continued to pray and asked the Lord to breathe His life into Allison. She made it through the night and the next and the next. The doctors and nurses were amazed.
Our little miracle baby is home now with Momma and we have all grown closer to the Lord through this gift of mercy and life.
